Targeting Legislators

While it is important to keep all of our legislators informed on adult education and literacy issues, some legislators are key to our success in advocacy. These legislators are members of committees and subcommittees that make decisions impacting adult education and literacy. Since subcommittees divide the workload of committees, subcommittees are the legislative groups that are most important. The subcommittee makes recommendations to the committee; these recommendations must be approved by the committee before being reported to the House or Senate. It is especially critical that advocates who are constituents of legislators on key committees and subcommittees respond to alerts when called. Is your legislator a member of any of these?
